25FEB2010 JASON-1 IGDR for day 053 merged with 054
The JASON-1 IGDR's for day 053 was received late at NAVOCEANO, thus it was not included in the SSHa processing for day 053; however, IGDR's for day 053 was included in day 054 SSHa processing. Thus file ssh/js2i2010_054.Z has this data included in it.

16FEB2010 Maintenance will be performed on the USGODAE filesystem.
There is a planned maintenance period, in which time USGODAE will be unavailable. The system will become unavailable at approximate 1300 PST and last for about a hour.

02FEB2010 JASON-1 IGDR for day 025 merged with 026
The JASON-1 IGDR's for day 025 was received late at NAVOCEANO, thus it was not included in the SSHa processing for day 025; however, IGDR's for day 025 was included in day 026 SSHa processing. Thus file ssh/js2i2010_026.Z has this data included in it.

21JAN2010 Another technical issue resulted in a disruption of data
There more FNMOC data disrupted for DTG's around 2010012100. A data recovery effort has been made, and most data was recovered.

12JAN2010 A technical issue resulted in a disruption of data
The automated recovery jobs failed, and have resulted in delays of data distribution. A recovery of data is in progress. There is the possibility of missing FNMOC gridded data for date time groups near the January 12, 2010 date. In addition the data feed rate from FNMOC has slowed significantly which may result in more delays.

08DEC2009 Recovered NOGAPS data for 2009111900
NOGAPS data that could be recovered was recovered for the November 19, 2009 00 UTC time. Other FNMOC data of intereset may also have been recovered for this time period. If you cannot find it then it will not be able to be recovered.

29OCT2009 GOES 11 offline for a few weeks
The data related to GOES 11 may not be available for a few weeks. As of October 29, 2009 the GOES 11 data has been missing since October 22, 2009. File check reporting will be put hold for navo/sst/GOES_11 until the data is detected again.

28OCT2009 USGODAE.org system update
USGODAE servers updated. There was a minor risk of potential disruptions, and none were dectected.

08OCT2009 JASON-1 IGDR for day 278 merged with 279
The JASON-1 IGDR's for day 278 was received late at NAVOCEANO, thus it was not included in the SSHa processing for day 278; however, IGDR's for day 278 was included in day 279 SSHa processing. Thus file ssh/js2i2009_279.Z has this data included in it.

02OCT2009 Data storage upgrade no longer expected to cause disruptions
The data storage upgrade is now at a point not expected to cause service disruptions. USGODAE is still working on redundant systems, and looking for opportunities to upgrade equipment. Further disruption notices will be posted as needed, and could be more predictable.

21AUG2009 FAROP, Altimetry, and SSMI/DMSP Ice data are no longer available
August 21, 2009, FNMOC requests the following datasets be removed from USGODAE: FAROP, Altimetry, SSMI/DMSP Ice data.

16AUG2009 USGODAE systems go out of service
August 16, 2009, USGODAE customers lost the ability to deliver and retrieve data from the USGODAE servers. Full service restore on 20August2009 at approx 0800 UTC.

08JUL2009 NAVO globe17 SST data no longer available
July 8, 2009, the NAVO globe17 SST data will no longer be made available.

02JUN2009 Jason-2 IGDR SSHa file notice
June 1, 2009, the ADFC did not deliver the Jason-2 IGDR SSHa file, js2i2009_152.Z. Data for that file were not available at the execution time of our SSHa processing. It was manually retrieved later in the day. The data is included in today's output file, js2i2009_153.Z.

29MAY2009 USGODAE system full
Many data services were unavailable due the system becoming full. More storage is needed. Space has been allocated, however, disruptions can still be expected until the new storage is made available. Some service restored at 01JUN2009 approx 1600 UTC, and remaining FNMOC data restored at 02JUN2009 approx 0100 UTC.

23MAY2009 USGODAE FTP Failure
The FTP server was unavailable due to a USGODAE system becoming full. Service restored at 26MAY2009 approx 1600 UTC.

20MAY2009 SSHa prodducts for Jason-1 interleave orbits added
The new datafiles are: j1niYYYY_JJJ.Z, whereas YYYY = year and JJJ=Julian day

19MAY2009 FAROP, NOGAPS and WW3 data missing
The model data from FNMOC for FAROP, NOGAPS and WW3 were missing. For some reason their was a CAGIPS failure. Service restored at 21MAY2009 approx 1600 UTC, and most of the missing data was recovered.

25APR2009 USGODAE DNS outage
The DNS server for usgodae.org broke. Service restored at 27APR2009 approx 1730 UTC.

22APR2009 Some COAMPS run areas not available
The FNMOC COAMPS areas for cent_am,e_pac and w_atl were not and will not be provided for the 2009042200 run.

21APR2009 USGODAE FAQ page added
The long awaited FAQ page has been initiated at: USGODAE FAQ Page

19APR2009 JASON-2 IGDR Data was late
Teh JASAON-2 IGDR data was late getting to NAVO. Therefore, the data from day 109 was included into 110 SSHa processing. The 109 data is included in js2i2009_110.Z.

14APR2009 USGODAE server failure
The primary USGODAE server failed about 1600 UTC April 14, 2009. USGODAE services were unavailable until about 2230 UTC.

13APR2009 FTP block to non .mil users
The US Navy placed a block on FTP traffic to non .mil addresses. The change was not announced. FTP services were restored on April 14, 2009. It is still recommended to retrieve data via port 80 with curl, wget or LAS http://www.usgodae.org/las. In addition, LDM is another alternative method of recommended access.

11APR2009 FNMOC Global Ocean data failure
The FNMOC Global Ocean Analysis data failed to be sent by FNMOC on April 11, 2009. Efforts were made with FNMOC to get the data. However, it is unlikely this data will ever be provided, since the model was not run.

09APR2009 LAS corrections made
Some significant residual corrections have been made to the Live Access Server to USGODAE to make it an enjoyable experience to use. Please check out LAS at http://www.usgodae.org/las

25MAR2009 NAVOCEANO Emergency maintenance
NAVOCEANO is conducting emergency maintenance that will impact availability of all their MCSST products for several days. We will advise when full connectivity is re-established. Data Affected by outage: NAVOCEANO MCSST, Date and Time of outage: 3/25/2009, 1440 UTC, Outage ended: 3/27/2009, 1800 UTC.

15MAR2009 Automated Malfunction
The data failed to update on the USGODAE site due to an automated script account issue. Data was restored within 24 hours.

12MAR2009 GDEM Sound Speed data added
Monthly GDEM sound speed netcdf files which have global coverage were added to http://www.usgodae.org/ftp/outgoing/static/ocn/gdem/. These files can be accessed with LAS.

11MAR2009 Data Storage upgrade in progress
Starting on March 11, 2009, USGODAE started an upgrade of data storage. The new storage will provide some relief on space constraints, and allow for improved backup. It is unknown if users will experience any performance issues during the upgrade, however, to date no performance impacts have been detected. The upgrade is expected to be completed by Mar 31, 2009. Service disruptions of up to 6 hours could be experienced during this time.

11MAR2009 Delayed data from FNMOC
Some data failed to be delivered on time due to a patch update at FNMOC. The data has been fully restored. Thank you to the users that reported the missing files.

05MAR2009 DREN upgrade
A DREN upgrade was completed on March 5, 2009 from 1630 to 1830 UTC.

26FEB2009 Service Disruption for FTP feed from FNMOC
Data from FNMOC for pub/outgoing/fnmoc was disrupted on Feb 24 and Feb 25. The data was restored on February 26, 2009. Alternative data feeds and backup systems are being worked on to reduce the disruption time in the future.

24FEB2009 WW3 Europe/Mediterranean Regional Data added
Wave Watch III Regional data has been added to USGODAE. The data covers the Mediterranean, and is availabe at ftp/outgoing/fnmoc/models/ww3_regional/med

20FEB2009 index.asc files added to speed up browse of directorieis
No longer wait minutes to find out what is listed in directories with many files. Instead use the index.asc file. Versus a browse of entire NOGAPS directory, instead try /nogaps/2009/2009022000/index.asc. The index.asc is only being added to directories with a very large number of files. Now, please parse the index.asc file when you want to know what is to be found in a directory.

03FEB2009 NAVO JASON-2 data feed now active
NAVOCEANO started providing the JASON-2 satellite data to USGODAE on February 3, 2009. Updates to JASON-1 stopped on January 29, 2009. The NAVO JASON data is is located at ftp/outgoing/navo/ssh

30JAN2009 USGODAE achieves DIACAP ATO at NRL
The USGODAE systems has received Approval To Operate at Naval Research Laboratory in Monterey, California.

21JAN2009 Data Expectations page added
The Data Expectations page was added to provide a common location for disclaimers and what to expect from the data at the USGODAE site. Included is documentation of what data is provided and naming conventions. At the time of this posting, the page is is still in its early stages and is expeected to be continuously updated. Community help is encouraged for keeping this page informative and current.

18JAN2009 Service Disruption for FTP feed from FNMOC
Data from FNMOC for pub/outgoing/fnmoc was delayed due to an intermediary transfer issue. The data was restored around January 20, 2009 at 2330 UTC.

14JAN2009 Service Disruption for emergency preparedness test
USGODAE services were unavailble on January 14, 2009 from 1630 to 1900 UTC. The services were offline for an emergency response test. Data providers are encouraged to verify data uploads during this period.
NOTICE: FTP services experienced trouble until about January 15, 2009 at 2000 UTC.

13JAN2009 ww3_dps no longer supported
The feed for ww3_dps was discontinued. Please reference the data at pub/outgoing/fnmoc/models/ww3 for your FNMOC Wave Watch III needs. The ww3_dps path now redirects to ww3. The ww3_dps_expired archive will be removed April 1, 2009.

19DEC2008 UKMO data available and new UKMO data
The UKMO MET data is now populating pub/incoming/godae_qc/ukmo. The UKMO is now providing files for the UKMO contribution to the GODAE QC intercomparison project. 18DEC2008 Procedures changed for FTP data providers
Due to a system attack, procedure changes were required for providing data. Procedures for retrieving data are the same. If you wish to provide data please submit a request via the Contacts form.

17DEC2008 L.A.S. Service and FNMOC WW3 Metcast data feed activated The Live Access Server has been made available. FNMOC Metcast data feed is now retrieving FNMOC WW3 data. Every effort is being made to restore missing data.

12DEC2008 NOGAPS and COAMPS data disruption Due to system and network outages with our data provider that was beyond our control, NOGAPS and COAMPS data were unavailable for over 12 hours. The data is now being disseminated to the GODAE server. Report missing data at Contacts tab.

11DEC2008 USGODAE Data Recovery Status update
Many of the services have been restored. Please report missing data. Most of the data has been synchronized. ww3 data from Dec 4, 2008 on is still not processing. This issue is being addressed. The fnmoc/models/ww3_dps data is current.

04DEC2008 USGODAE Recovery of services NRL Monterey in Progress
During transition, one of the devices experienced troubles to recover. The back up device is now the primary, and data is being synchronized. FTP services have been restored. NOTICE: FTP services are now anonymous ftp to usgodae.org

03DEC2008 USGODAE Transitioned from FNMOC to NRL Monterey
On December 3, 2008, the USGODAE Project was moved from Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center to Naval Research Laboratories Monterey, California
The US Godae server, which also hosts the US Argo GDAC, is being transitioned from FNMOC to the Naval Research Laboratory, Monterey (NRL-MRY). We apologize to our users for the disruption and the short notice.
